About Me

John and I have been married for 9 years and live in Katy, Texas in our first home. Johnny is seven years old now and is a blast to be around. Olivia is four and is a little busy bee. We had Drew in April and have loved having a baby in our home again. John works at his father's company, G&A Partners, and just received his MBA from the University of Texas. As for me, I'm playing mommy all day and just loving life!

SIX months old!!

My baby girl turned six months old yesterday! I was too busy celebrating the big anniversary but today is all about her!

Some Livy facts:
She is a great sleeper! She's down by 8:30 and wakes up at 8, thank you!
Her favorite toys are keys, bags of fruit snacks (she loves the sound), wet wash cloths (she'll suck all the water out until they're almost dry!), a package of wipes, and empty boxes
Her eyes are blue-ish/gray-ish with a hazel ring in the middle. She didn't get my or John's eyes at all. They're a new breed.
Right now she makes this chubaca (I'm NOT a star wars fan so I don't know how to spell that) noise when she gets tired and it makes Johnny and I laugh!
She just got her first tooth this morning!!
She loves it when I sing really loud hymns or opera songs to her. No nursery rhymes or she screams at me.
She loves the watch Johnny from afar but if he comes close she gets nervous and starts to cry...he's not the most gentle brother on the planet so she's pretty much scared to death of him
John and I are completely obsessed with her.

Delicioso!

What a night! John made secret dinner reservations and wouldn't tell me where we were going until we drove up. I had to dress up so that was a big change from going to my fav. little Mexican dive! We went to Cafe Annie (down town on Post Oak Blvd.) and it was magnificent!

Appetizers: Chicken fried shrimp with lobster cole slaw and crab chowder
Entrees: I had wood grilled jumbo shrimp with a potato and cheese enchilada wrapped in bacon with spinach...probably the best meal I've ever had! And John had Chilean sea bass with some sort of vegetable hash on the bottom.
Dessert: I had a sweet plantain tamale with roasted pecans, coconut ice dream and grilled pineapple (the picture) and John had a warm chocolate cobbler with pecans and ice cream

Happy Anniversary!!

Five years ago today I married the hunkiest 6'7 basketball playing, OCD-ishly clean, fun-loving, most well mannered RM on BYU's campus. Lucky me! Today I am overwhelmed with gratitude and love for the man who has given me the best five years of my life. He is the better half of this marriage and I am more in love with him today than I have ever been...because, lets face it, I didn't know him THAT well when we got married, I had only known him 10 months!

It all started with a blind date my cousin Austin set us up on. I had sworn I was NEVER going to go on another blind date ever again but Austin said the words "6'7 and smart" so I had to give it a shot! We went to Chili's for dinner, then to the Nickel Arcade where, yes, everything is a nickel, and then to the top of some mountain to watch a movie. I think I fell in love with him on top of that mountain. We just laid there on our stomachs talking to each other about our families, his mission, our highschool lives, funny BYU-isms, etc. One month later he finally kissed me, six months later we were engaged and four months after that, we were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple for time and eternity. And five years later we have two little bambinos and still love each other!

I've always told John that falling in love was the funnest thing I have ever done! I love you honey! Here's to at least ten more happy years together! Just kidding, how 'bout eternity!

Last Week...

We had a fun week last week and here are some highlights...

Johnny boy got to lick his first chocolate covered beater. I RARELY bake so yes, the kid had to wait until he was 3 1/2 to do this for the first time. Maybe he'll get to do it again when he's 9!

Johnny and Livy were playing nice on the love sac one night so I snapped some shots

She's starting to want to crawl these days and gets really mad when she doesn't move despite all of her effort!

Sheree and kids were in town for a wedding and we surprised the kids when we showed up at Mike and Julia's. The only pictures I got were of the boys wearing these Russian animal hats from Mike's mission (John Nixon's brother).

Thank goodness for tags...

I like to save tags for days like these when it's been raining and nasty all day and I have nine loads of laundry to do. Thanks Katie!

3 Current Goals: 1) Be more consistent with FHE 2) Stop buying tortilla chips and eating them all 3) Start a blurb book

3 Current Obsessions: 1) Spinning classes at Lifetime 2) Watching the Olympics 3) "window" shopping on line...for anything

3 Fears: 1) Losing someone really close to me 2) Not having gas if a hurricane comes 3) One of my kids getting really really sick and not being able to do anything to make it better

3 Random Facts: 1) I have a really bad habit of picking off my mascara. And my new Lancome mascara is REALLY fun to pick off! 2) I've always been totally fascinated with the pyramids and that whole history and would love to go to Egypt one day and tour but that's after I go to Italy and Greece, my dream destinations 3) I waste WAY too much time blog stalking, such a pathetic loser!

I tag Sheree, Marci, and Julia

FOOOOOOOD!

Just as I suspected, the girl LOVES food! Anything. So far she loves apples, bananas, peaches, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, green beans and carrots. And today we gave her a biter biscuit and she sucked it into mush all over herself.

I've found that the easiest and cleanest way to feed the little buddah is to do it in the bumbo then pick her up and put her and the bumbo right into the bath.

Love her!

Johnny's First (and probably last) Pet

While Johnny was in Florida, his super cool Grandma Neese (John's mom) bought him a hermit crab which he called Nemo. He thinks it's really cool about five minutes a week and other than that, the little crawling insect is all mine;) I've always known that I wasn't much of an animal person but now I REALLY know I do NOT like taking care of animals. And if I despise taking care of a crab this much then Johnny's little dream of a puppy is out of the question! Poor little guy.
